Slim & Sassy® Breakdown



Today I wanted to give you a rundown of the products that I’m using to accomplish my healthy living goals. I firmly believe that the products in this system are helping me to have success in changing my lifestyle. TrimShake
I love the convenience of a meal replacement shake. Really, even if I wasn’t working toward a healthier me, I’d still use them because there are just certain days that I don’t have time to do much else! I am currently using the TrimShake to replace one meal per day, but I’m working my way up to replacing 2 meals. I use the chocolate TrimShake (let’s be real, chocolate is my life), and I can honestly say that I have not tried a tastier shake! It can be mixed with water or any kind of milk of your choice, but my favorite way to drink it is blended with vanilla almond milk and half a banana! It’s low-calorie, sugar free, and contains natural products that make you feel full.



Cōntrol™ Instant Mix and Bar
The Slim & Sassy® Cōntrol products are tools to help you control hunger throughout the day. We live in a society where even the healthiest foods can be processed. The more processed foods are, the faster they are digested. This means that we don’t feel full for very long, because the food we eat doesn’t ever make it all the way through our small intestine. The Cōntrol products come packed with a product called Appethyl®*(it comes from spinach!), which slows digestion so that food can make it all the way to the deep, dark depths of our digestive system, keeping us full longer. The Cōntrol Instant Mix can be added to any beverage (I add mine to my TrimShake!), and the bar makes for a great snack. The Cōntrol products are rather acquired tastes for me (I mean, the main effective ingredient comes from spinach), but I really feel like they work, so I have learned to like them. They help me regulate what “hungry” feels like, and prevent me from snacking in the afternoons and evenings.



Slim & Sassy® Essential Oil Blend
Besides smelling wonderful, the Slim & Sassy® blend carries a lot of benefits. It is a blend of the following essential oils: Grapefruit, Lemon, Peppermint, Ginger, and Cinnamon Bark. Slim & Sassy® is safe to consume internally. It helps manage hunger and boost your metabolism. You can either drink a few drops in a glass of water (though I still haven’t acquired the taste for that) or take the oil in softgel form.


dōTERRA Daily Nutrient Pack ®

I have replaced my daily multivitamin with these vitamin supplements from dōTERRA. They are all-natural and have been specially formulated to provide just the right amount of nutrients. These are especially important if you’re trying to lose weight, since by cutting calories, you are also cutting opportunities for your body to get the nutrients it needs. These supplements also help with increased energy, immunity, and metabolic function. These supplements are by far my favorite dōTERRA wellness products.

Week 1-Getting Started


My main focus this week will be replacing one meal per day with a dōTERRA® TrimShake. Sometimes, when I try to do breakfast and lunch TrimShakes, I get really lightheaded and sick by the end of the day, so I’m going to work my way up to that point. Plus, I have my last lunch duty of the year at school this week, anyway, so it just works out better that way!

My exercise goal for the week is to move every day. Dance, walk, work out at the gym, whatever. One of my biggest excuses for not exercising is not having time, so I am going to find ways to fit exercise of some type into my schedule everyday.

I think it is important to focus on mini-goals each week. This goal I have of losing 100 pounds seems very unattainable at this point, but if I can congratulate myself every week for achieving the little goals I set for myself, the ultimate goal won’t seem so out of reach. Join me the rest of this week for more updates. I will be breaking down the Slim & Sassy ® system and showing you all of the products I use to help me achieve success. I will also be posting a couple of healthy-eating recipes to help you on your own journey towards changing your lifestyle.

Step 1: Change your Attitude!

The Slim n’ Sassy system is based on four steps to success. People who use this system find success when they:

      1.     Change their attitude.
2.     Improve their diet.
3.     Exercise
4.     Rest and manage stress.


Over the next few weeks, I will be breaking these four steps down, but today I wanted to mainly focus on number one. Changing my attitude.

The first step toward changing your attitude about healthy living is to get rid of the imaginary barriers you put up for yourself. For example, here are some of mine:

-You are way too long gone. You’ve never been successful before, so why would this time be any different. Seriously? You’re going to lose 100 pounds? Good luck with that…
-You are too busy. You don’t have time to exercise, and cooking healthy for your family takes too much prep work.
-Junk food tastes too good. Do you really want to go through life without chocolate?

I have many roadblocks. So many, that I often don’t even notice that I’m thinking them. My first goal is to stop roadblocks in their tracks by recognizing them, then affirming out loud a counter-statement to prove them wrong. For example, if I catch myself thinking, “It’s too hard to feed my family a healthy meal tonight,” I will counter it with something like, “All I have to do is fill up half of our plates with a vegetable, and that will be a huge improvement and a step towards a healthier lifestyle.”

Another plan for changing my attitude is to take baby steps toward success. It is so easy to get burnt out by trying to change your entire lifestyle in one day. In order to make sure these changes stay permanent, I will be implementing one or two mini-goals per week.


Ultimately, changing my attitude comes down to one thing: constantly reminding myself that I can do this. It’s not the work of a superhero. I’m not too weak. This is my life and I can make the change.

Using Slim & Sassy® to Change my Life!

Here we are, the end of April, and we are coming upon another summer that I do not feel comfortable in summer clothes. I am so tired of saying, “That’s it, something has to change,” but continuing to live in my old ways. Diets are way too easy for someone like me to start and stop, leading into a vicious cycle that does nothing productive for my overall health. It is time for a lifestyle change.



Essential oils have changed the way that my family and I live our lives, and I am excited to announce that I am going to take it one step further with the  dōTERRA® Slim & Sassy® program. I know what you’re thinking, someone else selling product, and I completely agree with you. There are so many weight-loss products on the market these days that you start wondering who to trust and how to weed through them all, let alone “Do I really need to spend money in order to improve my life?” That’s a personal decision, but I can give you my top three reasons why I use Slim & Sassy®:

1.     The convenience. Between chasing around my now-crawling son, keeping the house put together (especially during my husband’s busy times of year, which on a ranch, is all the time!), and juggling my job and hobbies, it’s nice to just be able to grab a quick TrimShake. If I have a TrimShake or Slim & Sassy Cōntrol bar nearby, it is much easier for me to avoid a quick snack of chips, candy, or whatever else happens to be lying around. 
2.     I love essential oils. I know that the nutrition behind the Slim & Sassy® program has been sufficiently researched, and that they use natural products to help control appetite and provide nutrition. That makes me feel good about what I choose to put in my body. 
3.     It fits into my life. I don’t have to make huge drastic changes for the system to be effective. It’s a matter of replacing 1-2 meals a day, eating healthy for remaining meals, using oils, and exercising. There are no intense meal plans or cleanse days! I’m not trying to bash systems that have these things (I think they probably can be very effective!), I just find that it is easier to fit Slim & Sassy® into my current lifestyle, which makes it something I am more likely to stick with.
